About Jeff

Jeff Wise was first inspired by the promise of public service when he became an intern at the Ohio Statehouse while in high school.

Jeff built on that experience as a student leader at Ashland University. He reinvigorated a dormant Young Democrats chapter and focused the group’s attention not just on politics, but on volunteering in the local community. He also founded a Gay-Straight Alliance to help make the campus community more inclusive and welcoming to all students.

Jeff returned to the Ohio Statehouse after graduating, when he was selected for the Ohio Legislative Service Commission Fellowship. He also had the honor of working at the Ohio Senate and Ohio House of Representatives. As a legislative aide, Jeff assisted Lakewood residents with state government issues. His spirit of collaboration and bipartisanship yielded results for our community. During his years in Columbus, Jeff also enjoyed tutoring elementary school students during his lunch hour.

Following his years in public service at the Statehouse, Jeff returned home and has become a successful local businessman. As a Realtor, Jeff helps buyers and sellers make sense of complex real estate transactions. He is dedicated to enabling people to achieve the American dream of homeownership.

Jeff’s knowledge of the issues, policy and legislative experience, and record of helping Lakewood residents makes him uniquely qualified to be our next councilman. It is that spirit of hard work, bringing folks together, perseverance and a lifelong commitment to public service that Jeff will bring to City Hall to serve all Ward 3 residents, starting on day one.

Jeff is a strong supporter of local businesses and the arts and is a season ticket holder at the Beck Center. He is also a member of the Lakewood Historical Society, Lakewood Democratic Club, Cuyahoga County Progressive Caucus, and Cleveland Stonewall Democrats. Jeff and his spouse live on Chesterland Avenue with their rescue cat.
